Die Ark Gastehuis and B&B

Ark Gastehuis and B&B is situated inside the world-famous Williston Mall, a creative and fun tourist destination. Situated in Williston, the guest house is ideal for guests looking for a comfortable out of the ordinary stopover or longer stay. The building was built in 1905 and used to be the boarding school for girls. The property is being run by two artists and has been uniquely decorated to reflect their style.

Accommodation at Ark Gastehuis and B&B comprises 7 rooms which are unique and artfully decorated and all have outside access. These rooms are equipped with en-suite bathrooms with either a bath or shower. Other amenities include tea- and coffee-making facilities and snack baskets. Some of the rooms have air-conditioning and TV with selected DStv channels. Rooms can be booked on a room only basis. Breakfast can be booked at Guesthouse at extra cost if required. Free wifi is available on the property.

The guest house features a small splash pool, carnival games area, braai area and a communal lounge with board games, books and puzzles and the legendary Doppies Bar pub which is for overnight guests only. The big yard also features a variety of keepsakes from the days gone by, a treasure hunt and local craft shop called the Williston mall.

Secure, off-street parking is available for vehicles. The Ark is located close to shops, old NG church, museum, restaurant and other facilities within the town.

"Very unusual and unique and will not be to everyone's taste. I personally do not like sharing my eating and lounging space with animals. Furniture covered in animal hair makes you wonder about hygiene standards. No hot water in Ouma's huisie. Was an experience. Staff helpful and friendly."

"The creative eye of the owner is everywhere and Die Ark is certainly different. However there are serious shortfalls. The most important as far as we are concerned is there was no privacy to the toilet. I think that is something that is not for everyone and should have a choice when offering a room. Another very basic no-no was that the bed felt old and uncomfortable."

"Very very nice with super friendly people and animals (pets). Among all the beautiful treasures in and around the place there should be at least a shelf in the shower for soap and shampoo and some more hooks for towels etc. - otherwise no complaints. We will pop in again one day on our next RSA holiday."

"After a long and warm travel from Cape Town, and 100 km detour on the first leg of a two-day journey to Kathu, we reached Williston. Who would have thought that a 'one-horse town' could have a mall? Die Ark B&B and mall are uniquely different. An oasis and refreshing after a long journey and surely highly recommended for a stopover. The owners have created a beautiful rustic and authentic haven where locals can meet and relax after a long day or have a great meal, while children can play and have fun in the mini play area or the pool. Someone even offered to babysit our little 17 month baby girl while we relaxed, had a braai and enjoyed friendly local and visitor company. We had a lovely night's stay and can highly recommend it!"
