Bhejane Game Reserve is tucked away in the picturesque Groot River Valley, halfway between Steytlerville and Willowmore, on the western side of the Eastern Cape. Bhejane is just north of Baviaanskloof, and offers visitors an experience of real bushveld atmosphere in the Karoo.

All our efforts are aimed at making your safari an unforgettable experience and to ensure that your safari expectations are met. Our staff are well-trained and courteous, and are there to assist with all of your needs.

All accommodation is self-catering and each facility is booked out exclusively, ensuring total privacy. We offer accommodation in luxury river chalets, a bush camp with permanent tents, and a lodge. Alternatively, you can bring your own tent and set up camp at our campsite. The river chalets are located right on the river bank, which is a great spot for freshwater fishing. The lodge offers stunning views over the Grootrivier Mountains and is situated close to the lapa, bar and swimming pool, while our campsite is located under a canopy of Acacia thorn trees.

Bhejane now also offers paintball games. We have 20 paintball guns for corporate team-building events or a game between friends. Bhejane Game Reserve is home to a wide variety of birds and a stay here will ensure that the avid bird-watcher will find at least a hundred different species.

"Even though this lodge was off the beaten track, and a fair drive to get to, we just so loved our experience here. Simple, but adequate accommodation, but the setting and the privilege of experiencing the vast space and the bush were the highlight. We enjoyed a leisurely afternoon around the pool, before having a braai under the stars. The peace and tranquility were amazing! Lovely friendly owners."

"Unfortunately, we really had a bad experience.Firstly the directions to the farm are large but when you arrive at the destination, the sign for Bhejane is on the left and the size of an A3 page and on the right side of the road there is a board saying "wood" for sale which is far bigger! We almost road through to Steytleville and had to turn around.Secondly, we were fortunate to meet the owners mother which was so friendly and helpful, but then we met, we think the owner who should not be assisting new guests.Because of the bad signage boards we ended up arriving at 17:30 then had to set up camp, no power was switched on for the lights or geyser! I was able to find the switches.I do not recommend this place for camping at all.To be fare I cannot comment on the rest of the accommodation offered. The house is literally directly off from the main road and is an old farm house that has been dollied up.The photos do not give you an accurate look of the place. eg. our campsite was as the crow flies approximately 300 m from the road and farmhouse where we heard dogs barking till late at night and cars passing now and again. This is not a Game farm experience."
