Camp Figtree welcomes you to the era of colonial sophistication, to the beauty of the African continent and the warm friendship of the South African Eastern Cape Province. The camp has been designed around the original 1920s traditional colonial building style, including the distinctive use of corrugated iron roofing and wide, sweeping verandas that create a backdrop of nostalgic elegance reminiscent of the early pioneers.
Remote privately owned lodge in the Eastern Cape located on top of the Zuurberg mountains, overlooking Addo Elephant National Park, with magnificent endless views. Step back in time and experience unchanged colonial sophistication
Seven separate and individually decorated Luxury and Superior Suites, with private verandas, offer privacy and Old World elegance two have a quaint annex designed for family use.
The Main lodge offers a romantic lounge with open fireplace, dining area, wide-open verandas and breathtaking panoramic vistas from the pool and various deck areas.
Dine in our boma near a fire, under a beautiful African night sky. Victorian bath and a Zanzibar daybed set in the bush with exquisite views can be booked for your exclusive experience. Guided walks, mountain bikes, quad bikes and canoes available to explore the area.
Our qualified rangers offer daily excursions into Addo Elephant National Park which is home to the Big 5. Elephant Back Safaris are also a popular off property experience.
"The views and tents are very nice. More like spacious 5 star rooms with a balcony and a great view of a large valley with nothing but greenery on it. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. We are all meals here and they were also top quality. We really enjoyed the unexpected extras. They had a nice trail walk, there was an interesting snake handler with 5 live snakes (including a lively Cape Cobra), and they even washed our car! I highly recommend this place!"
"What a surprise to find outstadning service and above average staff in a tranquile set up like Camp Fig tree.we were spoilt by the b eauty of the setting and the attention to detail when it comes to upkeep and the overall management of the Lodge. We needed a rest and we got that and more with outstadning service and inetarction wityb all staff.Thank you!!!! we will be back"

"An excellent experience. Beautiful setting, lovely accomodation, very good food and wonderful staff. I am very much looking forward to being able to go there again as soon as I can."
"Fantastic accommodation, very peaceful and close to nature. Loved the abundant birdlife and absolute quietness at night. The food and service was 5 star quality and we enjoyed the best coffee in South Africa to date! God bless that little machine. Will definitely recommend Camp Fig tree."
"Thank you for a truly memorable experience. We were very impressed with the professionalism demonstrated by the staff, as well as the awesome views from literally everywhere! The accommodation and meals were superb."
"This is the experience of a lifetime for Americans. It is remote and elegant and has the most beautiful views and sunsets. The drive is not for the faint of heart. The staff is fascinating and educated us about Africa in ways we can't repay. Addo is inspiring as a conservation exemplar and seems less contrived than the private game reserves."
"We really enjoyed our stay at Camp Figtree. The people who worked there and the setting was perfect. It was well worth the bumpy ride up to be in such a beautiful and remote location. Michael's knowledge on the safari drive was tremendous and very insightful. Thanks so much. Oh, and I forgot, the food was definitely 5 Star."
"We had a fantastic stay at Camp Figtree. Beautiful setting, very friendly and helpful staff, great dinner and breakfast. We will recommend Camp Figtree to our friends and family and would love to visit again soon."

"Our stay at Camp Figtree was a superb end to our holiday. The room was great, and the views from both our room and from the main building were truly amazing. We were very pleased that we had hired a 4x4, as the roads up to the hotel are not good, but the location is worth the effort!Staff were both helpful and friendly, and the game drive provided was great. All in all, we were very pleased with our hotel choice."

"Set on top of the mountains up a long unmade road, Figtree has an amazing location looking into a deep river valley with glorious sunsets over the mountains. Only 12kms from the main entrance to Addo, it is ideally located."

"What a beautiful place. The entire set up is magnificent and the cook was incredible, the food simply exquisite.Due to bad weather, we stayed in the rooms instead of the luxury tent.Given how beautiful they were designed and overlooking the mountain, we will definitely have to go back to Camp Figtree. On suggestion, is that the road into the lodge should be fixed or else, guest need to hire 4x4's as the risk to a regular vehicle is too great. This place was the highlight of our trip."
